This Boy was Born to keep us on our FEET

Luke discovered rolling over at 3 months.....the problem he has is he gets soooo angry that he cannot get back over on his back. After a few days of closely watching him in his crib, he gave up and sucks his thumb for comfort, putting himself back to sleep on his tummy.

Well, I guess Luke decided this was not working for him. Sooooo he decided this morning at 4 months, 1 day.....to flip from his tummy to back. I could not believe he did this already. Maybe it is normal, but I thought this would come much later. He stuck his little bum in the air and let it drop to the side, putting his weight back to his side, then rolled to his back.

I think we are going to have a monkey type toddler in our family......uugh!!

I think I will invest in a baby corral gate for my sanity.....

So Peaceful.....

So since Luke has been put on a miracle powder called Thickit, there is soooo much peace in our home. It is an additive to put in breast milk or formula to thicken the consistency. It is supposed to assist with reflux because it goes down slower and therefore comes up slower. It also provides an extra 30 calories per 2 tbsp. I feel so sad that my little guy was probably upset this past month because he was starving.

The peace comes from a lovely schedule. Luke wakes up at around 0630, lays peacefully in his crib for about 15-30 minutes. Then we get up and he eats about 5-7 ounces. He goes down for a nap at 0900 and sleeps for two hours. He eats when he wakes about 5-6 ounces, then is in such a good mood and plays. He begins to show signs of being tired around 1300 and this is when he eats about 2 ounces and then goes down for a nap around 1400. The miracle is that he sleeps again for 1.5 - 2 hours......just like the books SAY!! Hooray, Luke has never been like the books. We have dreamed him to be just like the typical baby and he now is. He plays for the rest of the evening until about 1830 when he gets his bath, eats, and goes to bed around 1900-1930. WOW......how AWESOME is this.

I have gotten so much done with this schedule. I have done so much paperwork for my business, laundry (even the bed sheets because hey why not there is time), and little items that are always in the back of my mind.

Hanging out with your happy baby (with periods of rest in between).....man this is the LIFE!!

Appreciate those around you......

I am humbled at different times of the day......most of the time it lasts for a moment and then the rush of the day settles in and it is soon forgotten. I take this moment to thank those family members and friends in my life. Thank you for supporting me. Dad, thank you for pushing us to be more than most people ever imagine possible. You have instilled a work ethic that we can do ANYTHING we put our minds to. Mom, thank you for ALWAYS being here for me. You have walked with me through some trying times and have never turned away. I listen to people's stories of the way their mother's treat them and I cannot even imagine this as a reality in my own life. Tami and Shaun, thank you for being so close emotionally, even when we are so far apart physically. Bill and Jenn, thank you for being wonderful spouses to my brother and sister and for joining in our family.

Chris, thank you for your amazing support for me in every aspect of my life. Thank you for being my absolute best friend that I can confide my deepest fears. You are a blessing from God above. I have it so good and I know it. Thank you for loving Zach as your own child and treating him absolutely no different than you do Luke. You are an amazing father!!

Zach and Luke.....thank you for being you. Zach you are amazing. I truly believe you would make an excellent attorney the way you love to argue (just don't be a defense atty or your step father will have a heart attack)....Little jammers, thank you for filling the missing piece in our family. We are so complete now!! Things that used to be important have dropped a few rungs down.

Thank you to Chris's extended family for making me a part of your lives and a part of the family. Thank you to my extended family for making our family always feel welcome.....like time has not skipped a beat.

It is so nice to slow down and breathe in life's little moments...........because they are usually the ones that matter anyway!!

Luke goes for his Upper GI testing

Luke is going for his upper GI testing today and we are praying that everything is okay. He likely has reflux and we will need to monitor him closely and make small changes in his feeding. Hopefully we will get some answers soon. It will be done at the hospital I work at, so I can sign a release of information for him and view the records very soon. Anyway, we will keep you informed.

Luke is rolling over like Crazy.....

Well, at two weeks old, Luke rolled over about 5 times. On September 21 (little under 3.5 months) he rolled over again. On October 1, he is rolling over like crazy. He gets really upset though because he cannot roll back to his tummy yet. He grunts and squeals and gives up putting his head down and sucks his thumb. We get kind of nervous when he does this in the morning after waking up......oh the pleasures of a worrying mom and dad.

We are Home!!

Going to the Beach!!

Spokane...waiting to leave

Eating carne nachos after a long afternoon of boogie boarding...

Getting my hair done.....it takes work to look this good

We had a blast in San Diego this past week. Luke got to meet his extended family and we were blessed to meet Julianne and Graedy. Luke did wonderful on the plane....we will not discuss the car ride, it's the all famous car seat that Luke cannot stand. Anyway, Zach went boogie boarding, which he absolutely loves. We are thinking of taking a trip to the beach with him next year some time when he can spend days on the beach. Zach also got to go jet skiing with Uncle Joe, Uncle Bill, and his cousins, Ty, Darrick, and MaKayla. He thought it was great that Uncle Bill got pulled over by the water police for being in the water skiing zone.

We thank Barb for opening her home to us.....we had a blast.
