Luke gets his First Haircut...at only 3 months old!!

Luke got his first haircut today while my color was processing. Brooke, now Luke and my hairdresser cut the longest piece of 2.5 inches off of the back. I cannot believe how much hair our little man has. It is absolutely amazing. Chris has pictures on his phone and I will download them so you can see.

Hooray Zach!!

Zach passed the WASL (state test)!! Chris and I wanted to announce that we are proud of Zach as we got the letter home that he passed the WASL...He came running in the house and said mom, mom this is important and handed me the letter. Fist pumps, high fives, and hugs later and Zach's question was "What do I get"....my answer....."Congratulations"......his next response in a discouraged voice..."uuugh".

CONGRATS ZACH!!!

Oh....lower lip

Luke can get whatever his little heart desires when he pulls out his 'lower lip' card. Mommy, Daddy, Brother, Grandparents, Friends, and even Strangers all run to his rescue.
Check out the pictures to watch the progression.....
Lower lip is out.......

Full on cry with the lower lip......

Now just sad right before mommy picks me up!!

It is just soooo sad....He also works mommy over because with his lower lip cry, it sounds just like he is yelling maaaaa.....maaaaa......It sounds just like mom!!

Chillin with my friend, Kearsten.......

Luke and Kearsten (his first girlfriend, he has others) hanging out in their jammies. My friend, Cassie and I work together and had our kids 2.5 weeks apart. We have been walking buddies since Luke was about 3 weeks old. She has always been a trooper, especially in the beginning when she would push her stroller with Kearsten in it, then pull my stroller while I held Luke because he was screaming his head off.

Now we can successfully get through our walks peacefully and the kids have fun while we drink our coffee at Starbucks!!

Once Again I Am Reminded.....We are Blessed

Most of you know, I am a social worker/therapist.....Well most days, I hear the sadnesses of people's lives: injustices caused to them, poor choices made, poverty, drug abuse, physical and sexual abuse.....and I still come home and carry on with my life.

Tonight was much different and another opportunity for growth in my career and personal life. Prior to becoming pregnant, I expressed interest in a new support group for women, men, family, and friends of those that were effected by a miscarriage, stillborn, newborn death. After planning with a team of experts in this area, the group was to begin. Well little did I know that I would become pregnant. I thought, well I can attend until I begin to show to help get the group off of the ground. The morning of the first support group meeting, I began to have bleeding. I did not think much of it until I called the doctor and he said, "I want to see you today to do an ultrasound".....those words made me worry and I began sobbing. How could an unborn baby at 6 weeks make me so worried? Everything was okay at the ultrasound, but I knew I could not be a part of the support group at this time. The timing was all wrong!

Well, my unborn 6 week old baby was born on June 10, 2008 and is now almost 3 months old. I was approached at work to be a part of the support group and I agreed.

Tonight was my first night and I am truly blessed, not only to have a wonderful, healthy son....but to be a part of all of these amazing people's lives while they share their most private and treasured thougths and feelings.

I met a couple who has has three living children and three that have passed. Another woman who will visit her due date this Wednesday, Sept 10 (while I celebrate my son's 3 months alive) she will mourn the day that she should be celebrating her daughter's birth. I pray for the health of the other woman's pregnancy that she currently carries and will never forget the pictures she shared with the group of her daughter that passed away (she was so beautiful and perfect). The last woman who has so much knowledge in this area and shared her memories of her son.

**God has blessed their families and ours**

Who knows why things happen the way they do....what I do know is hold your family close and always let them know what they mean to you....

Please take a moment and listen to the first song on my blog....HELD by Natalie Grant.

**Thanks Jenn for having "Bring on the Rain" and "Praying for baby Stellan" as I was able to give these to a member in the group**

We are Still Hawks Fans!!

Luke says that we are still Hawks fan (even though they played horribly). Who knows when his first game will be, but we are getting him on the waiting list for a season ticket....It will probably be 5 years before a seat opens, but that is okay!

We moved the family wall to the entry way from the office. We will rotate new pictures and the old ones will move to the office. Anyway, Zach helped me with his eyes as he told me if the pictures were straight.....my big helper!! Anyway, the house is coming together after over a year.....

So Chris, Zach, and I have many names for Luke and here are just a few I can think of right now:
Bubbas (Zach started calling him this and it stuck), brother, little daddy, little man, mans, Lukers....

It takes me back to nicknames that I had for Zach, how I came up with some of them, I have no idea:

We now say ZACHARIEEEE...with a drawn out eeee...Chris loves to say this when Zach walks through the door! Also, Zachaaaaa is a favorite. Zach just rolls his eyes at his goofey mom and step-dad.

Gettin Ready.........

Wink, wink....I'm getting ready to sleep through the night.....don't tell my mom, I want it to be a surprise!!

Ready for a chilly morning ride......

Whether getting ready for bed or for the breezy morning hours, our little man is dressed as a stud! Should you say your baby is a stud? Well look at the pictures and you will see just how adorable he is. I know every mother believes their baby is just amazingly gorgeous, however I have got to say, we have been blessed in this area.....

Three days in a row counting this morning and our little man has slept through the night. I have also been incorporating one coffee in the morning back into my diet and he has not shown any signs of being upset. I had terminated all coffee and milk when we did not know why he cried so much because we were reaching for anything that might be causing him to cry all day long. Well as the books say, colic should virtually go away for most babies by three months. Luke is 5 days away from his 3rd month birthday......he did give dad a hard day yesterday, but the truth is I think he missed his mommy!!

Talk to you all soon............take care!

The Day Chris and I have Dreamed of.....

Luke turned 12 weeks old yesterday and guess what.......last night was his first complete night of sleeping through the night!! HOOOOORAY! He went to bed at 7:30 p and awoke at 6:30 a. That is 11 whole hours.....the longest of his life and well deserved for us I would have to say. The funny thing is the night prior he was up every 3 hours (like the old days) and then he pulls an 11 hour on us. I am not crossing my fingers that this will stay for long, but I know the light is at the end of the tunnel.

Remembering back.....when Luke was 2 weeks old - recently, let's just say he was text book colic. He cried all day long, except when he was eating (which then we overfed him and he would throw it all up....look we did not have a clue) and sometimes when he was sleeping on someone's chest. He screamed the entire car ride, anytime he was put down, etc......you get the point. This peaked between 5-7 weeks. Everything that I read said, it starts at 2 weeks, peaks at 6, and then dissipates by 3 months (for most babies). I prayed and prayed Luke would be most babies in this case because I could not take it anymore.....Look I am not complaining about my son, it was just a REALLY difficult time.

Our little boy is almost 3 months old and the bell shaped curve is going down. He has left the peak and is what Chris and I like to joke about and say to each other...."look Luke is like a normal baby right now"....we have had to keep the humor over the last few months or we would have not been speaking.

Luke now takes short naps (most of the time....better than nothing), cries for only 5 minuttes of the car ride instead of 45 minutes, has no problem going to bed at night for about 2 weeks now, and now I get to say "SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT"....boy life is good!

Have a great day! I have had sleep, so I know I will.....
